    Omolabake Episode 4

CHAPTER 4 “Granny-O, I got the Chili sauce. I am at the corner of the street.” After a pause, she replied “No, I did not forget the baking supplies.” Omolabake ended the call with her Grandmother. Granny was easily one of her best people in the world. With so much love to shower. Her vegetable soups were straight out of no recipe books. At seventy-seven, she still insisted her loaves and pastries had to be home baked. When she wasn’t napping, knitting or playing scrabble with the gardener, they were gisting. Omolabake cooked on weekends. Granny always said, to keep Omolabake’s skills alive. Omolabake noticed the garden trees had been…

    Omolabake Episode 3

“Sweetheart, you won’t believe what I had to do today?” Morinsola recounted details of her day to her husband. She stood by the doorway into the kitchen weaving her hair into two cornrows. It was her favourite routine to avoid shrinking of her natural hair. “Am all ears” he pursed his lips. He continued to peel the skin off the Paw-paw at the sink. She narrated the details of her day. “…the funny thing is that to pay him a driver’s salary will be like underpaying him because he is actually more than qualified to be a driver.” “Remind me babe… how old is he?” “About twenty-six or twenty-seven “Ok,…

    Fruitfulness

But here is why he says so, “Dwell in me, and I in you. As it is impossible for branches to bear any fruit while disconnected from trees, so it is impossible for you to experience fruitfulness i.e to have any fruit except you are connected to me… Except my life flows to you. Except you fed from me for I am the source.” John 15:4(paraphrased). Selah. #wordstoliveby

    Pain

Pain is rather an inevitable part of life’s processes… What we do with pain is more important than what caused the pain (selah). Though there may be justifiable reasons or not as to why there is a pain in the first place… But many are have turned sadly in to the uncomforting arms of alcohol, sexual-obsession and her numerous siblings, food addiction, drug abuse or worse still a life of denial.  Really, it is important to feel your pain but  not to hold on to it that it becomes a living.  To feel here is to not deny that indeed there is a pain, which is actually the effect of…

    Peace

When a Brother of mine sent this picture, he asked what I’d caption it. It wasn’t till the next day thoughts and feelings of Peace flooded my heart. The picture instantly came to mind.  It started with the picture giving a kind of representation of  “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.” (Psalm 124:7) in my heart. You know that phrase, “That was close” It can almost explain a dimension of peace…. Like “that was close but not close enough to harm me.” Peace, is not a state of inaction (not doing anything)… But a…

    Purpose

“So Tomi, have you discovered your purpose?” Yet another (well meaning) person would ask this question.  I’d cringe internally without any answers, no perfect one liner, no complicated speech on how I’ve been sent to save the world.  This was about five years ago. So, one day I got frustrated and typed a search query on Google “How do I discover my purpose?” (Not sure if these were my exact words).  Trust na, I got  answers. Most surprising/shocking for me was an Article… Okay so this writer says (I paraphrased) “To discover your purpose is not hard at all… Get a piece of paper. When you think of  the reason…
