Dust to Dust…

Shovel, Loose Earth, Coffin

Hands on the shovel as each family member takes a portion of loose earth to pay their last respect to The Deceased.

“Dust to dust”, the preacher says, “from the earth you have come, to it you shall return”.

To me it is a process I have to go through especially to say good bye to a loved one but it sounds like “Dawn to Dusk”…

At the reception, I see older cousins with their babies and toddlers, I see the next generation of “us” coming forth, they are all so cute {at least thats the normal deescription for babies, right?}.

Beyond their faces I see them as entities as individuals, I recognise that this is their own DAWN, their time of appearing, their begining.

I realise that each man must, just as he has his own DAWN have his own DUSK.

As I see my generation , I see that we are at the prime of OUR DAWN…. and our DUSK is at hand.

It may not seem so quick and at hand right now, till you just wake up one morning and ask yourself “what have I done with my life?” then it resounds to me dust to dust, but it’s really Dawn to Dusk.

Dust to Dust…but its is really Dawn to Dusk…

P.S…
I understand that we cry when people die especially loved ones gone, what deludes me is the fact that we wait till their death before we break our Alabaster Box of Words…
How many time have you heard or felt…calling that person to say thank you or you love them…but now they are gone…we begin to write and give tributes.
Please tell people how much they mean to you and mean it sincerely especially to parents,  siblings and family (God knows we take them for granted).

Dust to Dust, says the Preacher…
Dust to Dust, he says emphatically…
Dawn to Dawn…I hear.
